Tyshawn Taylor posted 10 points and nine assists to go with two turnovers, while Thomas Robinson added 10 points and nine rebounds.
Both teams struggled to score in the first half. KU held USC to 5-for-22 shooting in the game's first 20 minutes (22.7 percent). Still, the Jayhawks only shot 33.3 percent themselves to take a 25-13 lead into the break.
KU (8-3) will play host to Howard at 7 p.m. on Dec. 29.
