San Antonio is a 12-13 hour drive from Lawrence down I-35, so you're probably better off flying. Round-trip tickets during the week of the Sweet 16 are anywhere from $400-800 dollars depending on the airline, with a layover likely in Denver, Houston or Atlanta.

History: Opened on May 15, 1993 at a cost of approximately $186 million.
Pre-game Prep Rally Friday, March 25, 3-6 p.m., with pep rally featuring the basketball band, mascots and cheerleaders at 4:30 p.m. at Sunset Station (a half mile north of the Alamodome). Game time on Sunday would be either 1:10 p.m. or 3:55 p.m. and the pre-game party would start three and a half hours prior to tip-off.

The Alamodome is located in downtown San Antonio and home to the San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame, a gallery of bronze plaques located on the south plaza of the arena.
During the day, you should be able to find plenty of eateries within five miles of the stadium, including Mexican food, steakhouses and other restaurants in the Riverwalk.
• One main attraction is the Riverwalk located about one mile northwest of the Alamodome. The Riverwalk features a wide array of restaurants, The Rivercenter shopping center and also a 30-45 minute river tour cruise that costs $8.25, less for kids and seniors.
The Alamo is just a six-minute walk east of the Riverwalk, and about a mile northwest of the Alamodome. Its hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.

• Paesanos — Italian — Pizza, pasta and fish anywhere from $8-25 on the Riverwalk — 514 S. Boston Ave.
