Predict when the 1,000,000th comment will be posted

This contest is now closed. Thanks for your entries.

Not long ago, we discussed our sites' upcoming 1,000,000th comment, which would be posted on LJWorld.com, KUsports.com or lawrence.com. Just about on schedule, or slightly ahead, actually, that day is nearly here.

To that end, we're announcing the 1,000,000th comment contest — open to all registered users of LJWorld.com, KUsports.com and lawrence.com. To enter the content — and possibly win fabulous prizes — all you need to do is fill out the form below by Friday at 10 a.m., or when our 999,000th comment is posted if that comes first.

As the 1,000,000th comment draws near, we'll launch a special page on all three of our Lawrence sites, to help you count down to that milestone comment. Be on the lookout for links to that page. As of 9:45 p.m. Sept. 15, 990,977 comments had been posted.

The poster that comes closest to picking the exact day, hour, minute and second when the 1,000,000th comment is registered in our database will win a package of prizes from LJWorld.com, KUsports.com and lawrence.com. The package may include T-shirts, coffee mugs, concert tickets, gift certificates and anything else we think represents the role of comments in each of our online communities. In the event that two or more users are equally close to the actual time of the 1,000,000th comment, the winner will be determined by a random drawing conducted by Jonathan Kealing, online editor.
